The I-5 in Oregon state is the main north-south
transportation corridor through Oregon for both people and cargo.
The i-5 in Oregon travels generally in a north-south direction
across the in-land western portion of the state... the highway conveniently connects all the larger cities in
Oregon, like;
Portland,
Salem, and
Eugene
as well as, a number of other smaller cities & communities, like;
Albany,
Ashland,
Grants
Pass,
Medford,
Roseburg,
Sutherlin,
Tigard,
and more.
While the i-5 is not as scenic as the
101 Highway in Oregon which also runs generally north-south
through state (but travels along the
Oregon coastline) the i-5 is the preferred transportation
corridor for much quicker north-south travel through Oregon.
Much of Oregon is blessed with beautiful
country throughout the state, and the
i-5 in
southern Oregon offers plenty of beautiful natural scenery,
particularly around the areas of the
Klamath Mountains,
Grants Pass, and
Ashland area's... in fact,
Grants Pass is rated among the greatest places in the
American West for
whitewater rafting,
forest trails & hiking,
fly fishing, and
recreational activities.
The i-5 in Oregon state
is intersected by Interstate 84... the i-84 travels east-west along
northern Oregon...
the i-84 connects with
Boise ID,
and east of Boise, the i-84 eventually connects to Interstate
15.
When traveling north on the i-5 from the
Oregon/Washington border, the city of
Seattle
is located approx. 170 miles north of the OR/WA state line. When traveling south
on the i-5 from the
Oregon/California border, the city of
Sacramento is located approx. 289 miles south of the
OR/CA state line... traveling further south, the city of
Los Angeles
located approx. 674 miles south of the OR/CA state line.
The length of the
i-5 in Oregon state is approximately 312 miles in length, with an estimated driving
time of approx. 4 hrs. & 41 minutes.
